I think some use it in the way you described, but many others use it as a way to &quot;hyper-charge&quot; their lives, to get more done. Unfortunately, this always has a cost somewhere.

I understand the discomfort with &quot;going dark.&quot; When someone who is normally connected disappears without any notice, it can be a little annoying.

Consider this though, my life is a box and everything in my life is a block. The box can only hold so many blocks, but the commitments in my life, and the people I work with and for, continually add more blocks. 

&quot;Going dark&quot; is essentially choosing to limit the number of people who can add blocks to my box. It may seem like a stupid thing, but some people, myself included, need a framework to manage and organize the inputs, so we can produce sufficiently complete outputs.</description>
